Artist Statement VICTORIA J. MIRAGLIO
Artist Statement The one real passion in my life is my art. Painting and drawing have always come as natural to me as breathing. I started drawing and painting at age three. All of the natural world fascinates and enthralls me. My paintings start with a an inspiration, emotion, theme or color and the image I create finally becomes a synthesis of my feelings at the time. I have always loved painting from life: animals, the human face and form, landscapes, seascapes, ancient architecture. I am fascinated by shapes and color…it could be the craggy architecture of an ancient doorway, the way the light bounces across the grass or the glistening, shimmering light on water. When I paint I become immersed in my work tuning out everything in my world. I lose all track of time. And when finished I’m drained. Everything I have to give is given to painting. I have been greatly influenced by the many places in the world where I have visited. While traveling I am constantly devouring all the art and architecture I possibly can. I recently returned from Italy and took over 400 photographs of images that I want to paint. I paint small format paintings or murals up to 30 feet wide and 14 feet tall. I paint in oil and acrylic. I am working on a series of window paintings where the viewer looks out to another world. I am working on alternative forms of framing: vintage shutters, iron shutters and some have carved stone like frames to surround the view. ![]()
